Web site
A collection of related pages you visit on the internet.
A web site (also written as website) is a collection of connected pages on the internet that you can visit using a web browser like Chrome or Safari. Think of it like a digital book where each page contains information, pictures, videos, or interactive features, and you can jump between pages by clicking links.
Every web site has its own address called a URL, like www.nasa.gov or www.smithsonianmag.com. When you type that address into your browser or click a link, your computer connects to another computer called a server that stores the web site's pages and sends them to your screen.
Web sites serve countless purposes. Your school probably has a web site with information for students and parents. Museums create web sites where you can explore their collections. News organizations publish stories on their web sites. Some web sites let you shop, play games, watch videos, or learn new skills.
A single web site might have just one page (like a simple restaurant menu) or thousands of pages (like Wikipedia). What makes it a web site is that all those pages belong together under one address and usually share a similar design and purpose.
