agree
To have the same opinion or say yes to something.
To agree means to have the same opinion as someone else, or to say yes to a plan or idea. When you and your friend both think pizza is better than hamburgers, you agree about dinner. When your teacher asks if you can turn in your project by Friday and you say yes, you're agreeing to the deadline.
Sometimes agreement comes easily, like when everyone in your family agrees that the new puppy is adorable. Other times you have to work at it. Maybe you and your sister disagree about which movie to watch, but after some discussion you find one you both like. Then you've reached an agreement.
The word can also mean that two things match up or fit together. A scientist might say that her experimental results agree with her hypothesis, meaning they match what she predicted. If your mom's memory of an event agrees with your dad's version, their stories line up.
Notice that agreeing doesn't mean giving up what you think just to avoid conflict. Real agreement means you genuinely share an opinion or you're willing to accept a plan. You can disagree respectfully with someone and still be friends. Sometimes the best solutions come from people who disagree finding a way to work together.
