airman
A member of a country’s air force who works with aircraft.
An airman is a member of an air force, the branch of a country's military that operates aircraft. In the United States Air Force, “airman” is both a general term for anyone serving and a specific rank for newer enlisted members. An airman might work as a pilot flying fighter jets, a mechanic maintaining engines, a communications specialist, or in dozens of other roles that keep military aircraft flying and missions running smoothly.
Today's airmen train extensively in everything from aircraft systems to survival skills. While “airman” traditionally referred to men, it now includes all people serving in the Air Force, regardless of gender.
Airmen serve in peacetime and wartime, protecting their country's skies and supporting operations around the world.
