ample
More than enough; plenty of something.
Ample means more than enough, or plenty. If you pack an ample lunch, you've packed so much food that you won't go hungry, maybe even have leftovers to share. When a teacher gives students ample time to finish a test, there's enough time that no one needs to rush or panic.
The word suggests comfortable abundance rather than just barely scraping by. A stadium with ample parking has so many spaces that finding one is easy. A recipe with ample instructions gives you all the details you need, plus helpful tips. When someone has ample opportunity to practice before a recital, they've had plenty of chances to prepare.
Ample often appears in phrases describing space or time. An ample supply of art materials means the class has plenty for everyone. Ample room means there's space to move around comfortably, not squeeze through sideways.
The opposite of ample would be words like scarce, insufficient, or meager. When something is ample, you don't have to worry about running out or not having enough.
