angel
A heavenly being who serves God, or a very kind person.
An angel is a supernatural being found in many religions. Angels are described as messengers and servants of God, existing in a realm beyond our physical world.
In religious art and stories, angels often appear as beautiful human figures with large wings, dressed in flowing white robes and surrounded by light. However, religious texts sometimes describe angels very differently: powerful, awe-inspiring beings whose appearance could frighten people.
The word “angel” has also taken on a broader, affectionate meaning in everyday language. People call someone an angel when that person is remarkably kind, helpful, or good-natured. If your sister helps you study for a big test when she could be doing something else, you might say, “You're an angel!” This everyday use captures the idea of someone acting with almost heavenly kindness.
