announcer
A person who tells an audience what is happening next.
An announcer is a person whose job is to speak to an audience, usually to introduce what's happening next or to describe events as they unfold. At a baseball game, the announcer tells fans who's coming up to bat and keeps everyone informed about what's going on. At a school assembly, the announcer might introduce each speaker or performer. Radio and television announcers do the same thing for listeners and viewers at home.
Sports announcers have one of the most recognizable jobs: they describe the action play-by-play so people can follow along, adding excitement with their voices. A great sports announcer makes you feel like you're right there in the stadium, even if you're listening in your car. News announcers read the day's important stories on television or radio.
An announcer's whole purpose is to keep people informed and engaged, whether they're introducing the next act at a talent show or describing the final seconds of a championship game.
