antiperspirant
A product that helps stop or reduce underarm sweating.
An antiperspirant is a product you apply to your underarms to stop or reduce sweating. Unlike deodorant, which just covers up odor, antiperspirant actually blocks your sweat glands from producing moisture. It typically contains aluminum compounds that temporarily plug the tiny openings in your skin where sweat comes out.
Most people use antiperspirant to stay dry and comfortable during the day, especially during gym class, sports, or hot weather. You might notice that some products are labeled “deodorant and antiperspirant,” meaning they both stop sweating and prevent odor. Pure deodorant just masks smell, while antiperspirant tackles the wetness itself.
While sweating is your body's natural way of cooling down, some people prefer to minimize it in social situations. That's where antiperspirant comes in: it's a practical solution for staying dry when you need it most.
