astrologer
A person who claims to predict lives using stars and planets.
An astrologer is someone who practices astrology, the ancient belief that the positions of stars and planets influence human lives and events on Earth. Astrologers create charts showing where celestial bodies were located at specific moments, like someone's birth, and interpret what these positions might mean.
For thousands of years, people consulted astrologers for guidance about everything from planting crops to making major decisions. Ancient kings employed court astrologers to advise them on battles and treaties. Today, many people read horoscopes in newspapers or apps that claim to predict their day based on their zodiac sign (the constellation the sun was in when they were born).
It's important to understand that astrology is not the same as astronomy. Astronomers are scientists who study space using telescopes, mathematics, and the scientific method to understand how the universe actually works. Astrologers interpret symbolic meanings from celestial patterns, but their predictions cannot be tested or proven the way scientific ideas can be.
While some people enjoy astrology for entertainment or find meaning in its symbolism, it doesn't have scientific support. The stars and planets do influence Earth in real ways (the moon creates tides, the sun provides light and warmth), but there's no evidence they shape individual personalities or predict specific events in our lives.
