asymmetrical
Not the same on both sides; uneven or unbalanced.
Asymmetrical means not the same on both sides. If you draw a line down the middle of something asymmetrical, the two halves won't match or mirror each other.
Your face is slightly asymmetrical: one eye might be a tiny bit higher than the other, or one side of your smile might curve differently. A heart shape is asymmetrical because the left and right sides are different. In contrast, a butterfly's wings are symmetrical because they mirror each other.
Architects sometimes design asymmetrical buildings where one side looks completely different from the other. Artists might create asymmetrical paintings where the composition feels balanced but not identical on both sides. In sports, an asymmetrical formation means players aren't arranged in matching positions.
Sometimes asymmetrical designs feel more interesting or natural than perfectly symmetrical ones. Think about how trees grow: they're asymmetrical, with branches reaching in different directions, yet they still look balanced and beautiful. An asymmetrical object can feel dynamic and alive in ways that perfect symmetry sometimes can't capture.
