confused
Unable to think clearly or understand what is happening.
Confused means unable to think clearly or understand what's happening. When you're confused, your thoughts feel jumbled, like puzzle pieces that won't fit together no matter how you arrange them.
You might feel confused when your math teacher explains a new concept too quickly, or when you walk into the middle of a conversation and can't figure out what everyone's talking about. A confusing movie might jump between different time periods without explaining which scene happens when, leaving you puzzled about the story.
Being confused is different from simply not knowing something. If someone asks you what year the War of 1812 ended and you don't know, that's just a lack of information. But if you study that fact, then someone tells you it actually ended in 1815, and another person insists it ended in 1814, and you can't figure out who's right or why the dates don't match the war's name, that's confusion. Your brain has information but can't make sense of it.
Everyone gets confused sometimes. A confused look on someone's face, with furrowed eyebrows and a tilted head, can signal they need a better explanation or more time to process what they're learning.
