content
Peacefully satisfied with what you have or where you are.
Content has two distinct meanings:
- A feeling of peaceful satisfaction with what you have or where you are. When you're content, you're not restless or wishing for something else. You might feel content reading a good book on a rainy afternoon, or content after finishing a challenging project. Being content doesn't mean you lack ambition or goals; it means you can appreciate the present moment without constantly wanting more. A contented sigh is the sound someone makes when they're comfortable and at peace.
- The information, ideas, or material inside something. The content of a book is the story or information it contains, the substance that fills its pages. A video's content might be funny, educational, or boring, depending on what's actually in it. Teachers talk about content when they discuss what students need to learn: math content, science content, history content. When you create something, whether it's an essay, a video, or a presentation, the content is the substance of what you're communicating. People who create videos, articles, or posts online are sometimes called content creators.
