contribution
Something you give or do to help a group.
A contribution is something you give or add to help achieve a larger goal or make something better. When students work on a group project, each person's contribution matters: one might research facts, another might create illustrations, and someone else might organize the final presentation. Together, these individual contributions create something better than any one person could make alone.
Scientists make contributions to knowledge by discovering new things. Artists make contributions to culture by creating music, paintings, or stories that enrich people's lives. A firefighter makes contributions to community safety. Your contribution to your family might be setting the table for dinner or helping a younger sibling with homework.
Contributions don't have to be big or dramatic to matter. Sometimes the smallest contribution, like speaking up with a good idea or volunteering to help, makes all the difference. What makes something a true contribution is that it adds value and helps move things forward, whether you're contributing to a bake sale, a science fair project, or your soccer team's success.
