conversation
A talk where people take turns sharing ideas and listening.
A conversation is when two or more people talk back and forth with each other, taking turns sharing thoughts, stories, questions, or ideas. Unlike a speech or lecture where one person does all the talking, a real conversation means everyone gets a chance to speak and listen.
Good conversations flow naturally. You might start talking about your weekend plans and end up discussing your favorite books, with each person building on what the other says. When someone asks you a question and you answer, then ask them something in return, you're having a conversation. When you tell a friend about something funny that happened and they respond with their own story, that's a conversation too.
A skilled conversationalist knows how to keep discussions interesting by asking thoughtful questions, really listening to answers, and adding relevant ideas without dominating.
Conversations happen everywhere: at the dinner table, on the playground, in the hallways between classes. They're how we learn what others think, share what matters to us, solve problems together, and build friendships. Some of history's greatest ideas emerged not from someone working alone but from conversations between curious people exploring questions together.
