courteously
In a very polite and respectful way toward others.
Courteously means behaving with polite respect and thoughtful manners. When you act courteously, you're showing consideration for others through your words and actions. A student who courteously holds the door for someone carrying a heavy load is genuinely thinking about making another person's life a little easier, going beyond simply following rules.
Today, acting courteously might mean letting someone else go first in line, listening without interrupting when someone speaks, or saying “excuse me” when you need to pass by someone. It's different from just being polite out of obligation. When you do something courteously, there's warmth and genuine respect behind it.
Someone who behaves courteously makes other people feel valued and comfortable. A courteous reply to a rude comment stays calm and respectful rather than matching the rudeness. Teachers appreciate when students raise their hands courteously rather than shouting out answers. The opposite would be acting rudely, dismissively, or as if other people don't matter. Acting courteously creates an atmosphere where everyone feels respected and heard.
