coziness
A warm, safe, and comfortable feeling in a place.
Coziness is that warm, comfortable, contented feeling you get when everything around you feels just right. It's the quality of being snug and sheltered, like curling up under a soft blanket with hot chocolate while rain patters against the window, or reading in a quiet corner where lamplight makes everything glow.
Coziness includes physical warmth but also comes from soft lighting, comfortable furniture, and a feeling of being enclosed and protected. A room can have coziness through these elements working together. A cabin with a crackling fireplace has coziness. So does a reading nook piled with pillows, or even a tent during a camping trip when you're zipped into your sleeping bag listening to crickets outside.
It describes both the feeling itself and the things that create it. You might talk about the coziness of your favorite chair, or say that a coffee shop has a cozy atmosphere. When something has coziness, it makes you want to settle in and stay awhile. It's the opposite of harsh, cold, or uncomfortable. Coziness makes a space feel like a refuge, a little world where you're safe and content.
