crowded
Full of too many people or things in one space.
Crowded describes a space packed with so many people or things that there's barely room to move comfortably. A crowded subway car forces passengers to squeeze together, standing shoulder to shoulder. A crowded classroom might have students sitting at every desk with barely an empty seat. When a store becomes crowded during a big sale, shoppers have to navigate carefully around each other.
The word captures that feeling of too much in too little space. A beach might be pleasantly busy on a sunny day, but crowded when you can barely find a spot to spread your towel. Your backpack becomes crowded when you've stuffed in so many books and supplies that the zipper barely closes.
Crowded can describe physical spaces or schedules. When someone says their calendar is crowded, they mean packed with appointments and commitments, leaving little free time. The opposite of crowded is spacious or roomy: places where you can stretch out and breathe easily. Notice how the same number of people can make a small room feel crowded while leaving a large auditorium feeling half empty.
