dealing
Giving out cards or handling a situation or problem.
Dealing means distributing or giving out something to different people, most commonly cards in a card game. When you deal cards, you pass them out one by one to each player until everyone has the right number to start the game. The person doing this is called the dealer.
The word also describes how someone manages or handles a situation. When you're dealing with a difficult math problem, you're working through it step by step. When a teacher is dealing with a disruption in class, they're addressing and handling the situation. Someone who stays calm while dealing with unexpected challenges shows composure and problem-solving skills.
In business, dealing means conducting transactions or doing business. A store that specializes in dealing rare books buys and sells them. Card shops that deal in sports memorabilia focus on buying, selling, and trading collectibles.
The phrase “it's a big deal” means something is important or significant, while “no big deal” means the opposite. If you accidentally knock over someone's pencil case and they say “no big deal,” they're telling you it doesn't matter and not to worry about it.
