deodorant
A product you put on armpits to stop bad smells.
Deodorant is a product people apply to their underarms to prevent or mask body odor. When you sweat, especially during exercise or on hot days, bacteria on your skin break down the sweat and create an unpleasant smell. Deodorant works by either killing those bacteria or covering up the odor with a pleasant scent like lavender or citrus.
Most deodorants come in sticks, sprays, or roll-ons that you apply each morning after showering. Some deodorants are also antiperspirants, which means they not only fight odor but also reduce sweating by temporarily blocking sweat glands. People typically start using deodorant around age 10 or 11, when their bodies begin producing more sweat during puberty.
You'll find deodorant in nearly every bathroom because it helps people feel fresh and confident throughout the day, especially when they're active or in close quarters with others.
