deserved
Earned in a fair way by what someone did.
Deserved means earned in a fair way. People use it when they think an outcome “fits” someone’s actions, effort, or choices.
For example, “The standing ovation was deserved after months of practice,” or “Her prize was deserved because she solved the hardest problem.” It can also describe consequences: “The detention was deserved because he kept breaking the same rule.” Saying “It was deserved” is a way of judging something as fair and earned, not random.
You'll often see deserved used in sports: if a team played very well and won a game, the commentator may say that they deserved to win. On the other hand, if the team played very poorly but still won the game due to lucky breaks, they might say, “They didn't deserve to win, but they got lucky.”
