dinette
A small eating area with a compact table and chairs.
A dinette is a small dining area, usually in a home with limited space. While a formal dining room might have a large table with eight chairs and a chandelier, a dinette typically has a smaller table with just a few chairs, often tucked into a corner of the kitchen or a small alcove. You might find a dinette in an apartment, a mobile home, or a cozy breakfast nook.
A dinette set is the furniture itself: the compact table and matching chairs designed to fit in tight spaces. In the 1950s and 1960s, chrome and vinyl dinette sets became especially popular in American homes, with their shiny metal legs and bright-colored seats.
While a dinette may be smaller than a grand dining room, it can still be a warm gathering place for family meals, homework sessions, or breakfast. The size doesn't determine the memories made there.
