dishcloth
A small cloth used to wash or wipe dishes and counters.
A dishcloth is a small square of fabric used for washing dishes, wiping counters, and cleaning up kitchen messes. Most dishcloths are made from cotton or other absorbent materials that soak up water and soap easily.
In a busy kitchen, dishcloths get used constantly: scrubbing plates after dinner, wiping down the table, mopping up spilled milk. Unlike paper towels that get thrown away after one use, a good dishcloth can be rinsed out and used again and again, then tossed in the washing machine when it gets too dirty.
Some families use sponges instead, while others prefer dishcloths because they dry faster. A fresh, clean dishcloth hanging by the sink is one of those small signs that someone is keeping their kitchen tidy and organized.
