dreamland
An imaginary place in dreams where anything can happen.
A dreamland is an imaginary place of perfect happiness and beauty that exists only in your imagination or dreams. When you drift off to sleep and enter dreamland, you leave the real world behind and enter a realm where anything can happen: you might fly over mountains, talk to animals, or visit magical kingdoms that vanish when you wake up.
People also use dreamland to describe ideas or plans that seem wonderful but aren't realistic. If your friend says they'll become a famous rockstar without ever practicing an instrument, you might say they're living in dreamland, meaning their expectations don't match reality. A teacher might warn students that they're “in dreamland” if they think they can ace a test without studying.
The word captures that hazy, pleasant feeling of being lost in imagination, whether you're actually asleep or just daydreaming about impossible things. Writers sometimes call dreamland the land of nod or use it to describe stories set in surreal, dreamlike worlds where normal rules don't apply.
