eastbound
Moving or traveling toward the east direction.
Eastbound means traveling or moving toward the east. If you're on an eastbound train, you're heading in the direction where the sun rises each morning. A truck driver on an eastbound highway is driving east, while cars in the westbound lanes are going the opposite way.
You'll see this pattern with the other directions too: northbound, southbound, and westbound. These words are especially useful when talking about traffic, trains, or flights, where people need to know which direction something is moving.
Pay attention to how eastbound describes the direction of travel, not where something starts. An eastbound flight from Los Angeles to New York is called eastbound because it's heading east, even though it begins on the West Coast. Similarly, if you're walking eastbound on a street, you're moving toward the east regardless of where you started your walk.
