expert
A person who is very skilled and knowledgeable at something.
An expert is someone who has deep knowledge and skill in a particular area, gained through years of study, practice, and experience. A chess expert understands strategy, recognizes patterns, and can think many moves ahead. A medical expert has spent years learning about the human body and treating patients. An expert baker knows how humidity affects dough and why certain techniques work better than others.
Becoming an expert takes time and dedication. Someone might practice piano for an hour after school and be pretty good, but a piano expert has likely practiced thousands of hours over many years. Experts often see things others miss because they've encountered so many situations in their field.
The word can also describe someone's skill level: an expert skier, an expert carpenter, an expert chess player. When people face difficult problems, they often seek out experts for help. A plumber who's an expert at fixing complicated leaks knows tricks and solutions that a beginner wouldn't think of.
Even experts don't know everything. They understand the limits of their knowledge and keep learning.
