farsightedness
A vision problem where close objects look blurry but far ones don’t.
Farsightedness is a condition where distant objects appear clear but nearby things look blurry. Someone who is farsighted might easily read a sign across the street but struggle to focus on a book held in their hands. The eye of a farsighted person is shaped slightly differently than average, causing light to focus behind the retina instead of directly on it. This can make close-up work like reading, writing, or working on a computer tiring and difficult.
Farsightedness is also used to describe the ability to think ahead and plan for the future. A farsighted leader considers both today's problems and how decisions will affect people years from now. When your parents save money for your college education, they're being farsighted. This kind of farsightedness means having the wisdom to prepare for what's coming instead of only dealing with what's right in front of you.
