foppish
Too focused on fancy clothes and looking stylish and perfect.
Foppish describes someone who pays too much attention to their appearance and clothes in a vain, showy way. A foppish person obsesses over looking fashionable and stylish, but crosses the line from taking care of themselves into being absurdly concerned with fancy dress and trends.
Picture someone who spends hours arranging their hair just so, wears the flashiest, most expensive clothes they can find, and constantly checks their reflection to make sure every detail is perfect. They care more about being noticed for their appearance than for their character or accomplishments.
While there's nothing wrong with dressing nicely or caring about how you look, foppish suggests someone has gone overboard. A foppish character in a story might refuse to help with important work because they don't want to mess up their outfit, or spend their family's money on unnecessary luxuries. The word carries a mocking tone: calling someone foppish means they're vain and shallow, more concerned with the surface than the substance. It's the difference between taking pride in your appearance and making your appearance your whole personality.
