fuzzy
Covered in soft, fine hair or fibers; not sharp or clear.
Fuzzy describes something covered with soft, fine fibers or hair, like a peach, a tennis ball, or a favorite stuffed animal. When something feels fuzzy, it has a gentle, slightly rough texture that makes you want to touch it. A baby chick is fuzzy. So is a sweater made from certain kinds of wool.
The word also describes things that aren't clear or precise. When you first wake up, your thinking might feel fuzzy until you're fully awake. A fuzzy memory is one you can't quite recall in detail: you remember something happened, but the specifics are hazy. A photograph can look fuzzy if it's out of focus. When the rules of a game aren't clearly defined, you might say the boundaries are fuzzy.
In mathematics and computer science, fuzzy logic is a way of thinking that allows for degrees of truth rather than simple yes-or-no answers. Instead of saying something is definitely true or definitely false, fuzzy logic recognizes that some things fall in between, like how a day can be somewhat warm rather than simply hot or cold.
