giver
A person who freely gives help, time, or kindness.
A giver is someone who freely provides help, resources, time, or kindness to others. A giver might share their lunch with a friend who forgot theirs, volunteer to help younger students with reading, or donate toys they've outgrown to children who need them.
Being a giver doesn't require wealth or special resources. A giver gives what they can: attention, encouragement, effort, or ideas. The kid who always offers to help carry equipment after gym class is a giver. So is the classmate who patiently explains math problems to struggling students, or the neighbor who shovels snow from older people's driveways.
The word often appears in the phrase giver and taker. While everyone both gives and takes throughout life, a true giver tends to think about what others need rather than constantly focusing on what they can get.
