goofy
Silly and playful in a fun, harmless way.
Goofy means silly, playful, and a little ridiculous in a harmless, entertaining way. When your friend makes exaggerated faces to crack you up during lunch, or when your dad does a terrible impression of a British accent while reading aloud, they're being goofy.
The word describes behavior that's deliberately funny and lighthearted, not serious or dignified. A goofy person might walk with an exaggerated bounce, tell jokes that make everyone groan and laugh at the same time, or wear mismatched socks just because it amuses them. Goofy humor often involves physical comedy, weird voices, or absurd ideas that make people smile.
Notice that goofy is almost always affectionate, not insulting. When someone calls you goofy, they usually mean you're fun to be around and don't take yourself too seriously. A goofy grin spreads wide across your face when you're genuinely delighted. Goofiness is that quality of being willing to look ridiculous if it means making others happy or enjoying yourself.
The opposite of goofy would be serious, dignified, or stern. There's a time for both: you probably shouldn't act goofy during a serious moment, but life needs plenty of goofiness too.
