he
A word used for a boy or man already mentioned.
The word he is a pronoun used to refer to a male person or animal that has already been mentioned or is understood from context. Instead of repeating someone's name over and over, we use he to keep sentences flowing smoothly.
For example: “Marcus finished his homework early. He decided to play outside.” Without the pronoun, you'd have to say “Marcus finished his homework early. Marcus decided to play outside,” which sounds clunky and repetitive.
He is one of English's most common words, appearing in almost everything we read and say. You use it when the person you're talking about is male and is the one doing the action in the sentence. “He threw the ball” tells us a boy or man threw it. “He solved the puzzle” means a male person figured it out.
The word pairs with other pronouns: he (subject), him (object), and his (possessive). You'd say “He rode his bike” and “I saw him at the park.” Learning when to use each form correctly is an important part of mastering English grammar.
