A headstand is a gymnastics position where you balance upside down on your head and hands, with your feet pointing straight up toward the ceiling. To get into a headstand, you place your head and hands on the ground in a triangle shape, then slowly lift your legs up until your whole body is vertical.
Headstands take real practice and strength. Your neck, shoulders, and core muscles all have to work together to keep you stable. Many people start by practicing against a wall for support, then gradually learn to balance without it. Yoga instructors and gymnasts make headstands look easy, but beginners often wobble or come back down when they first try them.
