helping
Giving someone support or making something easier or better.
Helping means giving someone assistance or support when they need it. When you help your younger sibling learn to tie their shoes, or when you help a classmate understand a math problem, you're making their task easier by contributing your time, effort, or knowledge.
Helping takes many forms. Sometimes it means doing part of a task with someone, like helping your parents cook dinner by washing vegetables or setting the table. Other times it means offering guidance without doing the work for them, like when a teacher helps a student by asking questions that lead them toward an answer. You might help a friend who dropped their books by picking some up, or help your team win by playing your position well.
The word can also describe making something better or more effective. Medicine helps people recover from illness. Practice helps you improve at the piano. A good night's sleep helps you focus in class.
