hillside
The sloping side of a hill from bottom to top.
A hillside is the sloping side of a hill, the part that angles upward from the bottom to the top. If you've ever climbed a hill, you were walking on its hillside. Picture standing at the base of a hill and looking up: everything between where you're standing and the hilltop is the hillside.
Hillsides can be gentle and grassy, perfect for rolling down or having a picnic, or they can be steep and rocky, requiring careful climbing. In many places, people build houses on hillsides to get better views, though architects have to design special foundations so the homes don't slide down. Farmers sometimes plant crops or vineyards on hillsides, creating beautiful terraced patterns. In spring, wildflowers might cover a hillside in colors, while in other seasons, the same slope could be brown or snow-covered.
You might describe something as being on the hillside or along the hillside, or say that a cabin sits halfway up the hillside.
