hobby
An activity you choose to do for fun regularly.
A hobby is an activity you do regularly in your free time because you enjoy it, not because you have to. Building model rockets, collecting stamps, drawing comics, playing chess, gardening, coding video games, or learning magic tricks can all be hobbies. The key is that you choose to do it for fun and personal satisfaction.
Hobbies are different from chores or schoolwork. Nobody assigns you a hobby or grades you on it. You might spend hours perfecting your card shuffling technique or researching dinosaurs simply because it fascinates you. Some people turn their hobbies into careers eventually: a kid who loves baking might become a pastry chef, or someone whose hobby is fixing old computers might become a computer engineer.
A hobby isn't your “real work,” but something that brings you joy and helps you learn new skills. Many successful people say their hobbies help them think better, relax after hard work, or discover hidden talents they never knew they had.
