homebody
A person who likes staying home more than going out.
A homebody is someone who prefers spending time at home rather than going out to social events or activities. While some people love being constantly on the move, visiting friends, or exploring new places, a homebody feels most comfortable and happy in their own space.
Being a homebody isn't about being antisocial or unfriendly. A homebody might have close friends and enjoy their company, but they'd rather host a game night at home than go to a crowded party. They might choose reading a book in their favorite chair over going to a loud movie theater, or cooking dinner in their own kitchen instead of eating at a restaurant.
The term usually has a warm, accepting tone. When someone says, “I'm such a homebody,” they're not apologizing, they're just acknowledging what makes them comfortable. Some people are homebodies by nature, finding that home is where they recharge and feel most like themselves. Others become more of a homebody during certain seasons or after busy periods when they need rest.
You might notice that after a week of field trips, sports practices, and birthday parties, even outgoing people sometimes feel like being a homebody for a weekend, staying in their pajamas and enjoying the quiet comfort of familiar surroundings.
