how
A word used to ask about the way something happens.
How is a word that asks about the way something happens or is done. When you ask “how does a bird fly?” you want to know the method: flapping wings, catching air currents, using special feathers. When you ask “how did you solve that problem?” you're curious about the steps someone took.
The word helps us understand processes and methods. A science experiment explains how plants grow. A recipe tells you how to bake cookies. Your teacher might demonstrate how to multiply fractions. Each time, how points you toward the technique, the sequence, or the mechanism that makes something work.
How also asks about condition or degree. “How are you feeling?” asks about your state. “How fast can you run?” asks about speed. “How much does it cost?” asks about quantity.
Sometimes people use how for emphasis or surprise: “How amazing!” or “How could you forget?” These expressions show strong feelings about something.
