Impolite means showing bad manners or behaving rudely toward others. When someone is impolite, they might interrupt while others are talking, ignore a greeting, grab something without saying “please,” or forget to say “thank you.” An impolite person acts without considering how their behavior affects the people around them.

Being impolite is different from making an honest mistake. If you accidentally bump into someone and immediately apologize, that's not impolite. But if you push past someone without acknowledging them, or roll your eyes when a teacher is speaking, those actions are impolite because they show disrespect.
