largeness
The quality of being very big or great in size.
Largeness is the quality or state of being large in size, extent, or capacity. When you notice the largeness of the Grand Canyon, you're struck by how vast and enormous it is. When someone comments on the largeness of your vocabulary, they're impressed by how many words you know and use.
The word describes physical size: the largeness of an elephant compared to a mouse, or the largeness of the Pacific Ocean. But it also describes non-physical things. A leader might be known for largeness of vision, meaning they can imagine ambitious goals and possibilities that others haven't considered. Someone might show largeness of spirit by being generous and forgiving even when they've been wronged.
Largeness often implies something impressive or significant about great size or scope. The largeness of a building includes its height and the way that height makes you feel small and awed. When someone acts with largeness of character, they're showing qualities like generosity, courage, or wisdom that rise above ordinary behavior.
The opposite would be smallness, which can describe physical size but also narrow-mindedness or pettiness. Largeness in all its forms can inspire respect and attention.
