loll
To sit or lie in a very relaxed, lazy way.
To loll means to sit, lie, or stand in a lazy, relaxed way, usually with your body draped loosely and comfortably. Picture a cat sprawled across a sunny windowsill with its legs hanging over the edge, or someone stretched out on a couch with their head tipped back and arms flopping to the sides. That's lolling.
When you've been running around all day and finally collapse onto your bed, letting your arms and legs fall wherever they land, you're lolling. The word captures that wonderful moment when your muscles completely relax and your body just sort of melts into whatever you're sitting or lying on.
The word can also describe something hanging loosely, especially a tongue. A dog after a long walk will loll its tongue out of its mouth, letting it hang there while panting.
Lolling suggests a kind of carefree comfort, the opposite of sitting up straight and alert. When you see someone lolling in a hammock on a summer afternoon, you can tell they're not worried about anything at that moment.
