lounge
To sit or lie around in a relaxed, lazy way.
Lounge means to sit or lie in a relaxed, comfortable way, usually without doing much of anything. When you lounge on the couch after a long day at school, you're sprawling out and resting, maybe reading a book or just daydreaming. People lounge by the pool on summer afternoons, stretched out on chairs, soaking up the sun.
The word suggests leisure and ease, a kind of relaxed idleness. You wouldn't say someone is lounging at their desk doing homework. But after finishing that homework, they might lounge in a hammock, letting their mind wander.
A lounge is also a comfortable room or area designed for relaxing. Hotels have lobbies with lounge areas full of soft chairs and couches. Airports have lounges where travelers can wait in comfort. Your living room might have a lounge area where your family gathers to watch movies or talk. The furniture in these spaces is typically plush and inviting, the kind that makes you want to sink in and stay awhile. Some people even have a piece of furniture called a lounge chair, designed specifically for comfortable lounging.
