menu
A list of choices, usually foods and drinks to order.
A menu is a list of choices, most commonly the foods and drinks available at a restaurant. When you sit down to eat, the server brings you a menu so you can see what the kitchen can make: appetizers, main courses, desserts, and beverages. Some restaurants have children's menus with smaller portions and simpler dishes.
In restaurants, menus help diners see all their options at once instead of having everything recited aloud.
In computing, a menu works the same way: it's a list of options you can choose from. When you click a menu at the top of a program, you see commands like “Save,” “Print,” or “Undo.” Video games have menus where you select different game modes or adjust settings. Your phone's apps may be organized in menus so you can find what you need.
People also use menu to mean any set of options available. A teacher might offer a menu of project choices, letting students pick which assignment they want to complete. A summer camp might have a menu of activities like swimming, archery, and arts and crafts. Whenever you have multiple choices organized into a list, you're looking at a menu of some kind.
