motorcyclist
A person who rides a motorcycle.
A motorcyclist is someone who rides a motorcycle. Unlike driving a car where you sit inside protected by metal and glass, a motorcyclist sits exposed on top of a powerful two-wheeled machine, balancing and steering with their whole body.
Motorcyclists need special skills and equipment. They wear helmets to protect their heads, along with heavy jackets, gloves, and boots designed to shield them in case of a fall. They must understand how to lean into turns, how weather affects their grip on the road, and how to stay visible to car drivers.
Some motorcyclists ride for practical reasons: motorcycles use less gas than cars and can move through heavy traffic more easily. Others ride for the thrill and freedom of it, enjoying the wind and the feeling of being connected to the road. Police officers who patrol on motorcycles are called motorcycle cops or motor officers, and they can navigate crowded streets more easily than patrol cars.
