mynah
A talking bird from Asia that can copy human speech.
A mynah is a type of bird native to southern Asia, known for its remarkable ability to mimic human speech and other sounds. Mynahs belong to the starling family and have glossy black or brown feathers, often with bright yellow patches around their eyes and legs.
What makes mynahs especially interesting is their talent for copying sounds they hear repeatedly. Pet mynahs can learn to say words and phrases, whistle tunes, and even imitate doorbells or telephone rings. They're considered one of the best talking birds, sometimes rivaling parrots in their ability to mimic human voices. In their natural habitat, mynahs live in small flocks and use their vocal abilities to communicate with each other through a variety of calls and songs.
The common mynah has spread to many parts of the world beyond Asia, including Hawaii, Australia, and parts of Africa. While they're intelligent and adaptable birds, this adaptability has sometimes caused problems in places where they've been introduced because they compete with native bird species for food and nesting sites.
