outermost
Farthest from the center or from the inside edge.
Outermost means farthest from the center or most distant from the inside. When you peel an orange, you remove the outermost layer of skin first before reaching the fruit inside. The outermost planets in our solar system, like Neptune and Uranus, orbit far beyond Earth and the inner planets.
Think of a dartboard: the outermost ring is the one at the very edge, farthest from the bullseye in the center. Or imagine standing in a crowd: the people on the outermost edge are the ones standing farthest from the middle, forming the boundary between the crowd and the open space beyond.
The word often describes physical locations, like the outermost branches of a tree (the ones reaching farthest from the trunk) or the outermost walls of a castle (the final barrier protecting everything inside).
Outermost implies a comparison. Something can only be outermost in relation to other things that are closer to the center or inside.
