outmatch
To be clearly better or stronger than someone in competition.
To outmatch someone means to be clearly better, stronger, or more skilled than they are in a competition or contest. When one team outmatches another in basketball, they're so much better that the game isn't even close. When a chess player outmatches their opponent, their superior strategy and experience make victory almost certain.
When you outmatch someone, you're beyond their match: they simply can't keep up with your abilities. A professional tennis player would outmatch most casual players. An experienced debater might outmatch a beginner with stronger arguments and quicker thinking.
Being outmatched doesn't mean you're bad at something; it just means you've encountered someone operating at a higher level. A middle school soccer team would be outmatched when playing against high schoolers, even if both teams practiced hard and played well.
