perfect
Completely as good as possible, with no mistakes or flaws.
To be perfect means to be completely free from any flaws or mistakes, as good as something could possibly be. A perfect score on a spelling test means you got every single word right. A perfect circle has every point exactly the same distance from the center, with no wobbles or flat spots.
In everyday life, though, people use perfect more loosely. When you say “That's the perfect gift!” you usually mean it's exactly right for the situation, not that it's flawless in every conceivable way. A perfect day at the beach might have great weather, fun activities, and good company, even if a seagull steals your sandwich.
Very few things in real life are truly perfect. A cake can be delicious even if the frosting isn't perfectly smooth. A story can be wonderful even if you make a few small mistakes while telling it.
The word can also mean to improve something until it works exactly as intended: a musician might spend years perfecting a difficult technique, or a chef might perfect a recipe through countless attempts. This kind of perfecting is about making something as good as you can make it, while learning and improving along the way.
