pink
A light red color, like cotton candy or flamingos.
Pink is a pale red color, the color you get when you mix red and white together. It's the color of cotton candy, cherry blossoms, flamingos, and the inside of a seashell. Baby pigs are pink, and so are many people's cheeks when they've been running hard or feel embarrassed.
The color gets its name from a flower called a pink, which has fringed petals that look like they've been cut with pinking shears (special scissors that cut zigzag edges).
Pink can also mean healthy and glowing. When someone looks in the pink, they appear fit and well. If you tickle someone pink, you've delighted them so much they might actually turn a little pink from laughing. And when you pink fabric with special scissors, you're cutting those distinctive zigzag edges that help prevent fraying.
Today, pink means different things to different people: some see it as soft and gentle, others as bold and confident.
