planner
A person or notebook that helps organize plans and schedules.
A planner is a person who thinks ahead and organizes activities or events before they happen. A city planner designs where roads, parks, and buildings should go. A wedding planner coordinates all the details so the big day runs smoothly. When your teacher creates a lesson plan, she's acting as a planner, thinking through what materials you'll need and how much time each activity should take.
The word also refers to a notebook or calendar where people write down appointments, tasks, and goals. Students might use a planner to track homework assignments and project due dates. Adults use planners to remember meetings, doctor's appointments, and family events. Some planners are simple calendars with blank spaces for each day, while others include sections for goals, habit tracking, or notes.
Good planners, whether people or notebooks, help prevent last-minute scrambling. When you know what's coming and prepare for it, you feel more in control and less stressed. A student who writes down “science project due Friday” on Monday has time to gather materials and do careful work. The one who remembers on Thursday night faces a stressful rush. Whether you're planning a birthday party or just your week, thinking ahead usually beats winging it.
