pregnancy
The condition of having a baby growing inside the body.
Pregnancy is the condition of carrying a developing baby inside the body. In humans, pregnancy typically lasts about nine months, during which the tiny fertilized egg grows into a fully formed baby ready to be born.
During pregnancy, a woman's body undergoes remarkable changes to support the growing baby. The baby develops inside a special organ called the uterus (or womb), surrounded by protective fluid and connected to its mother through the umbilical cord, which delivers nutrients and oxygen. The baby starts smaller than a grain of rice and gradually grows fingers, toes, eyes, and all the organs it will need for life outside the womb.
Pregnancy is divided into three stages called trimesters, each lasting about three months. In the first trimester, the baby's basic body structure forms. In the second, it grows rapidly and begins moving. In the third, it continues growing and preparing for birth. Many pregnant women experience changes like morning sickness, fatigue, and a growing belly as their body makes room for the baby.
