refuel
To fill something back up with fuel or energy.
To refuel means to add more fuel to something that runs on fuel, like filling up a car's gas tank when it's running low. When a plane refuels between flights, workers pump jet fuel into its tanks so it has enough energy to reach its next destination. Ships refuel at ports, and some spacecraft can even refuel by docking with special fuel stations in orbit.
The word works beyond vehicles too. After a long soccer practice, you might need to refuel your body with a snack and some water. When you feel exhausted after concentrating hard on homework, taking a break to play outside helps you refuel your mind. A tired parent might say they need to refuel with a cup of coffee before tackling the next task.
Think of refueling as restocking your energy supply, whether that's gasoline in an engine or food in your stomach. Just as a car can't run on an empty tank, you can't keep going when your own tank is empty. Refueling means recognizing when you're running low and taking time to fill up again.
